How to Put Your VPN on Kodi?
You can put your VPN on Kodi in several ways. You can use a VPN client that works with the Kodi platform, or directly on your device (phone or tablet). In this article, we’ll discuss how to connect a VPN to Kodi in a few easy steps.
Step one: Install the VPN app
The first step is to install the VPN app on your device. You can use any app you prefer, but we recommend OpenVPN for its ease of use and wide range of supported devices. Once you have OpenVPN installed, launch it and click on the Connect button to connect to a VPN server.
For this example, we’ll use the NordVPN app as our VPN of choice. Once connected, click on the Apps button located at the top left of the screen to see a list of all the apps and games that are connected to your account. You can click on any app to see more information about it.
Step two: Configure the VPN app to work with Kodi
The next step is to configure the VPN app to work with your Kodi instance. To do this, click on the Apps button under the list of connected apps, and then click on the OpenVPN tab. Select the server located in your area, enter your username and password when prompted, and then click on the Secure button to activate the VPN connection on your Kodi.
Now you can access content restricted by your country’s laws from anywhere in the world. While this seems like a good idea, using a VPN with Kodi can have some unexpected consequences. For instance, if you use the wrong server from the UK, you’ll actually be violating Brexit laws and see content that’s banned in the UK. So make sure you’re connecting to the right VPN server for your location.
Step three: Test the connection
The final step is to test the connection between your device and your Kodi instance. To do this, click on the Apps button under the list of connected apps, and then click on the OpenVPN tab. Select your Kodi device from the list of compatible platforms, and then click on the Test button to see if the VPN connection is working properly.
If everything is configured correctly, you’ll see a green checkmark next to your device in the list of connected platforms. If not, you’ll see a red X next to it. Once you’re certain that the connection is working, click on the Close button located at the bottom right of the screen to disconnect from the VPN and then try connecting again.
Why should you use a VPN with Kodi?
In addition to allowing you to access content that would otherwise be restricted to certain countries, a VPN can protect your privacy on the web and even on your mobile devices. Many VPN services keep logs of your activity so they can improve their services and offer better support if needed. There’s also the possibility that a VPN can unlock new features on certain platforms or apps. For example, the TV app on Android and the iOS App Store both offer a dedicated section for managing your VPN connection. Some VPNs even provide users with anonymous web browsers that can be used to browse the internet with complete anonymity. If you’re worried about your personal data being tracked online, using a VPN is a safe and effective way to stay connected whilst retaining your anonymity.
How to connect your VPN on Kodi without using a VPN app?
If you don’t have a VPN app yet, you can still use the one that comes with Kodi to connect to a VPN. Just follow these simple steps:
Step one: Open Kodi
The first step is to open Kodi on your device. It’s usually found on your home screen or within the App Store on your phone. Once it’s open, click on the Menu button located at the top left of the screen > Settings.
You’ll now see the Home screen. Make sure that the Show advanced options is turned on, which is located under Settings.
Step two: Click on the VPN tab
The next step is to click on the VPN tab. You’ll see a list of all the VPN protocols available. Make sure that the OpenVPN option is selected, and then click on the OK button located at the bottom right of the screen.
You’ll now see a screen prompting you to connect to a VPN server. Use the search bar to type in the location of your choice, and then select a server. Ensure that the SSH option is NOT selected as this will activate an open SSH server which will leave you vulnerable to attacks if someone wanted to hack you via the internet.
Once you’ve chosen your location and VPN server, click on the Connect button to connect to the chosen location.
You’ll now be connected to a VPN server. If everything is configured correctly, you can swipe left to see your device icons arranged vertically on a grid. If not, you’ll see a red X next to your device. If you’re still having trouble connecting, continue down this road and follow the instructions given to you by the VPN support team.
Step three: Test the connection
The last step is to test the connection. Once you’ve connected to a VPN server, open Kodi again, and click on the Apps button. You’ll now see a list of all the apps installed on your device. Make sure that the OpenVPN option is still selected, and then click on the OK button.
You’ll see a splash screen prompting you to select which device you want to use to connect to the Internet. Select your device, and then click on the Test button. You’ll now see a small window with a green Connecting… symbol on it. Wait for the symbol to turn grey, and then click on the OK button to accept the connection.
If everything is configured correctly, you’ll see a green checkmark next to your device in the list of connected platforms. If not, you’ll see a red X next to it. You can now close the app and reconnect to the VPN server using the same steps mentioned earlier.
Use the steps mentioned above to connect your VPN to Kodi in a few easy steps. Once you’re certain that the connection is working, you can click on the Home button located at the top left of the screen to return to the main menu.
