There’s no question that Netflix is the gold standard for instant and on-demand TV shows and movies. Netflix is so popular because of its excellent library of TV shows and movies that are available instantly. Netflix does not store any shows or movies on the device you are using to watch them—which means you can access all your favorite shows and movies at any time from any device. (Think of it like trying to find a show or movie that is not already on your device but you believe is worth watching.)
What’s more is that Netflix makes finding and watching movies and shows quick and easy. You can access the full library of Netflix’s shows and movies from the company’s website or app. The selection is always expanding, too, with new shows and movies being added all the time. (There’s always something new to watch on Netflix.)
With so much competition around, it’s no surprise that other services—such as Hulu with Live TV—have popped up to offer an alternative to users who aren’t happy with the limited selection on Netflix.
What Is TvMC?
TvMC is the official streaming service of the Premier League and many other top leagues and teams around the world. Launched in 2014, the streaming service allows users to watch more than 400 live games a season, across different platforms including PC, Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad. (Watch the first official trailer for the service here.)
Just like with Netflix, you can access the entire TvMC library from the comfort of your home or office. And just like Netflix, you don’t have to do anything beyond install the app or browse to the website in order to watch games.
What sets TvMC apart is how the service brings the game to you. (No need to go to a movie theater or television channel for the game.) Instead, you get to choose your seats at a football match and follow the action live. (If you’re looking for a way to cut back on cable bills, this might be the perfect solution for you.)
How to Add VPN to TvMC?
Now, how exactly do you get all that content to your device so you can watch it? That’s where VPN comes in. In case you don’t know what VPN is, a VPN is a tool used to encrypt and disguise your IP address. (Think of it like finding a secret passageway or a hidden door to an otherwise locked room.) When you use a VPN, all the devices on your network, including your laptop, smartphone, and tablet, become security checkpoints. (If someone tries to access your personal information or online activities, your VPN will ensure that they cannot read your emails, bank details, or other private information.)
By connecting to a VPN before you start your Netflix account, you can ensure that your personal information is kept private and encrypted as you stream content. You can also use a VPN to allow you to access region-locked content, such as Netflix shows, or to watch content from another country.
To connect to a VPN on your device, launch the Netflix app and click on the gear icon in the top right corner. From here, you can either connect to Netflix’s website via VPN (recommended) or download and install the company’s app.
If you’re already using a VPN for other services (recommended), like BitTorrent or Humble Bundle, you can add the Netflix app to your VPN profile and start enjoying all the excellent TV shows and movies from the comfort of your couch.
Is It Worth It?
Let’s be honest, no one likes wasting time and energy on things that aren’t worth it. That’s why it’s important to do a bit of research before you spend your hard-earned money on anything. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Netflix, shall we?
Netflix is a wonderful service, and we definitely recommend it to anyone looking for excellent content. But is it worth it? We couldn’t find a single advantage to using Netflix compared to traditional cable or satellite TV. With hundreds of channels and seemingly endless content, it’s easy for Netflix to lose a customer if they don’t live up to expectations or offer something new and exciting.
Instead, go with a service like HBO, which offers an extensive collection of original programming alongside popular movie and TV show franchises. HBO also has a huge advantage over Netflix in that it offers its content in its entirety, with no advertisements or extra streams you have to pay for (which you’ll find on Netflix). (We’re not saying Netflix is evil or anything; it’s just that their business model is based on subscription fees and advertising, while HBO is completely free.)
Cut The Cable
If you’re looking for ways to save money, cutting the cable is always a tempting option. However, it doesn’t always have to be the cable provider that you need to cut to save. You might want to consider looking into the wonderful world of VPNs and seeing if they can help you in your quest to save money.
While cutting your cable provider might seem like a viable option, it’s usually the smaller or independent channels that disappear first, meaning you’ll actually lose a lot of content you enjoy because you’ll never see it again. Unless you cut both ends of the supply line, you’ll still need to find ways to get your television shows and movies, which might mean paying for some extra streams or finding illegal torrents.
Use A Roku Device
If you have a Roku device, you can take advantage of the fact that they are designed to work with VPNs. With a VPN connection, you can access all of the content that appears on your Roku. Unfortunately, this access comes with its own set of problems. If you want to watch content from Netflix, you will need to ensure that you have a VPN that is suitable for streaming. If you want to stream content from another country, you will need to ensure that your Roku can access that content as well.
On top of that, you will need to install a VPN app on your Roku. Installing a VPN app on your Roku takes little to no technical know-how and makes using the device a whole lot easier. Why? Because everything you need is already there! All you need to do is connect to Wi-Fi and open the VPN app.
Once you’ve done that, you can use the app to connect to a VPN and get all the benefits of using a VPN, with none of the hassle. (The only downside is that if you run out of data, you’ll need to pay for extra gigabytes, which can get pricey.)
Use A Chromebook
Chromebooks are great because they are fully functional computers without all the extra bells and whistles. (No need to worry about keeping up with the latest computer games or software.) Chromebooks also have the advantage of being extremely easy to use. (Even your grandmother can use one.)
The best part is that you can use a Chromebook to access the content you want, when you want it. For example, if you have a Netflix account, you can easily access your content from the browser. (Just remember that while some browsers might allow you to access Netflix, others might not.)
Chromebooks can also help you find content that you can’t access legally. Since you don’t have to worry about installing software or using outdated apps, you have the advantage of knowing that your computer is completely virus-free. Plus, you can use your Chromebook to surf the web and access social media, which can help you stay up-to-date on current events and trends.
Security is one of the key benefits of using a VPN on a Chromebook. Since you don’t have to worry about installing software or outdated apps, you don’t have to worry about your computer being infected with malware or viruses. (Malware such as Trojans and viruses can cause considerable damage, either by themselves or via the data they steal or destroy.)
One important thing to note about a Chromebook is that they are designed to work with Wi-Fi hotspots. If you regularly use public Wi-Fi to surf the web or use email, you will increase your chances of being hacked. (Yes, even if you use the most up-to-date security software and setup passwords, etc., a determined hacker can still get access to your personal information if they get lucky enough to breach your networks.)
Since you don’t want to put your personal information at risk, it’s best to limit your access to public Wi-Fi and ensure that all your wireless connections are secured with a VPN.
