How to Connect to a Verizon VPN in Chrome and Other Browsers

Here’s a scenario: you’re on vacation in Europe, and you want to watch a few movies on your laptop before you leave. But why should you be tethered to Netflix or other American streaming sites when there are so many great British TV shows available? You want to access content that’s geo-blocked outside of the US, and there’s no way you’re going to get that on an Australian website. So, you search for “verizon VPN” in your favorite search engine, and voila! You find a solution. Now you just need to connect to it using a few different browsers and devices.

Chrome

First, you’ll need to download and install the Chrome extension VPN Gate. This extension allows you to easily create a VPN connection from within the Chrome browser. It even remembers your settings, so each time you launch Chrome, you’ll automatically be connected to your VPN. Once you’re connected, you can browse the web as you normally would, while staying secure. Every time you make a purchase, or even visit a website that requires you to log in or create an account, you’ll be asked to confirm that you’re a genuine user of the app by entering your VPN password. This is an easy way to ensure that your identity is protected, even when you’re on a public WiFI network or computer at a cyber café.

Firefox

You can also use the Firefox extension, Private Internet Access, to create a VPN connection. Just click the add-on button, and then click the blue button to the right of the input field. You’ll then be presented with a list of VPN servers to choose from. Choose the one closest to you, or the one with the best internet speed, before you click the blue button.

After you launch Firefox and connect to your VPN, you’ll be able to select a website or app that you want to use that has been blocked in your location. As with the Chrome extension, Private Internet Access remembers your settings, so every time you launch Firefox, it will connect you to your VPN and ask you to authenticate before allowing you to proceed to the site.

Safari

You can also use the VPN app for iOS. Just search for “verizon VPN” in the App Store and install the app. Once you’ve done that, open the app and click the gear button at the bottom left of the screen. From here, you can connect to a VPN server, select a plan, and enter your username and password. Your VPN connection will then be available anywhere you browse using the Safari browser. Not only that, but if you use the same Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac) to access the web and the VPN at the same time, your personal data will be protected. The only downside is that the VPN app is fairly limited in comparison with its rivals, like the one mentioned above.

Opera

Another option is the Opera browser. It has a built-in VPN client that can be accessed via the menu on the top right of the browser. Simply type “opera vpn” in the search bar, and click the green button to the right of the box that appears. You’ll then be presented with a list of VPN servers to choose from. Just pick the one that’s closest to you, and then scroll down to the green button again to establish a VPN connection.

Now you can browse the web securely, without any restrictions or fears of being identified. If you want to stay even more secure, you can enable two-factor authentication via your VPN account by clicking the gear icon on the main dashboard and selecting the two-factor option. This will require you to enter an additional code whenever you make a new login or change your password. In addition to preventing hackers from accessing your personal data, this also adds an extra layer of security by forcing them to guess your username, password, and two-factor authentication code.

There are many situations where it’s not convenient or safe to be connected to the internet with your computer or mobile device. For example, if you’re in a foreign country and you don’t want to draw attention to yourself by being online during an emergency, you could use a virtual private appliance (VPA). These are special devices (usually placed on a dedicated server) that allow you to browse the internet anonymously through a VPN connection. They’re ideal for situations like traveling or using public computers in cyber cafes.

No matter which one you choose, connecting to a VPN is undeniably the simplest and most convenient way to ensure that your personal data is always kept private when you browse the web. In addition to Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera browsers, you can now use VPNs with the following programs:
