How to Find Your VPN IP Address

If you’re reading this article, I assume you’re either interested in finding the IP address of your VPN server or you just want to know how to find out your IP address. Either way, continue reading.

Sign Up For A Free Account

The first step to finding your VPN server’s IP address is to sign up for a free account with a VPN provider. Why? It’s a good idea to create a free trial or demo account with a VPN provider before you start paying for their services. Doing this ensures you’re not committed to paying for their services before you’ve even tried them out. It’s also a good idea to use a different email address for your free account than you do for your paid accounts. This ensures you can easily find all of your important account information should you lose your password. There are many reputable VPN providers out there; you just need to find one that suits your needs.

Check For IPv4 And IPv6 Addresses

When connected to a VPN, your computer will display two numeric addresses on screen: one for IPv4 and one for IPv6. Your IPv4 address is used to identify your computer to other computers on the Internet and is generally considered public information. Your IPv6 address is private information that only your computer and the VPN server exchange. Your computer will only display the IPv6 address if it has one, and it won’t always – it depends on your OS, the version of Firefox you’re using, and whether or not you have a VPN client installed on your computer.

If you haven’t connected your computer to a VPN in a while, it may not have an IPv6 address yet. In this case, you can temporarily enable IPv6 on your computer by opening the Windows Settings applet and clicking the Network & Internet icon. On the menu that appears, click Change Settings and then click the Plus sign next to TCP/IPv6. Finally, click the Enable button to enable IPv6 on your computer. Your computer will try to obtain a new IPv6 address from your ISP and, once successful, you’ll see an IPv6 address in the form of a hexadecimal number (ex. 1A1C5D77).

Use Google To Search For The IP Addresses

If you’ve tried searching for the VPN server’s IP address only to find a ton of unrelated results, it’s time to try something new. Instead of searching for the IP address directly, it’s a good idea to use a VPN search engine like Google to search for the server’s IP address. Just make sure you’re searching for the correct name of the VPN server (typically, the name of the company that provides the VPN service). Additionally, make sure you’re using an asterisk (*) as the initial character of the word you’re searching for (ex. *vpn*). This ensures you’re getting the best results from your search. Also, try searching for the VPN server’s name and the city or region you’re in to ensure you’re seeing relevant results. For example, if you’re in Canada but are searching for a VPN server that serves customers in the United States, your results may be limited to U.S.-based VPNs.

If none of this yields any results, your best bet is to try searching for the VPN server’s name and the IP address of a well-known website. In many cases, the site’s IP address will be hidden behind a gateway or firewall, but there’s a good chance you’ll be able to pull it down without a problem. In other words, try searching for the IP address of a website like Google, Twitter, or Facebook. If you find that the VPN server’s IP address is available online, it will be easy to find through a single Google search.

Why would you want to hide your IP address? There are various reasons why you might want to do this, but the most common one is that you’re concerned about your privacy or you want to remain anonymous while on the internet. If you decide that you want to keep your IP address private, then it’s a good idea to consider using a VPN to protect your privacy. As previously stated, once you have a VPN account, it’s easy to find out your IP address. If you login to your account and click the Settings button, you’ll see a page full of options. One of these options is “Interface”, where you can pick a custom name for your computer’s network interface (ex. eth0, wlan0, or VPN Interface). Once you connect your computer to a VPN using this interface, your IP address will be replaced with the VPN server’s IP address. Now, you can access the internet using your private IP address rather than your computer’s public one.

Check The Country Of Ownership Of The Domain Name

Depending on where you are, country-based restrictions may apply when it comes to the websites you can access. Even if you’re in another country, your internet service provider (ISP) may still have restrictions on the sites you can access. Luckily, many VPN services have a dedicated IP address that you can use to access any site you want, regardless of location. In other words, you can use the VPN server’s IP address to log in to your favorite websites without worrying about whether or not you’re allowed to.

Find the owner of the domain name you want to access and check to see if they’re based in any of the restricted countries. In some cases, the owner of the domain name may not be based in the country you’re in but may have a business or residence there (for example, if you’re in the United States and the domain name belongs to a company in Great Britain, they may have a branch there). In these cases, you may be able to access the site you want to visit even though it’s blocked in your location. Just remember: in some instances, you may have to register with the government in order to obtain a permit to do so. In other words, find out what restrictions may apply before you attempt to visit a site you’re not supposed to access.

Use An Ad-blocking App

Another way to find your VPN server’s IP address is to use an ad-blocking app for your smartphone or laptop. In most cases, these apps will work with your devices’ browsers to block ads and trackers while you’re on the internet. Additionally, some of these apps will periodically check for proxy servers (also known as “private browsing” servers) that allow you to access websites that are blocked in your country. For example, if you’re in the United States and want to access the BBC, the Guardian, or the New York Times, you may want to consider using a VPN to access these sites through a private browsing mode.

When connected to a VPN, your device will appear to be browsing the internet through a private browsing mode to the computer or smartphone that’s connected to the VPN. This method of browsing can be helpful if you want to access certain websites you’re not supposed to access or if you want to remain anonymous while on the internet. However, you should be aware that anything you do while connected to a VPN will be visible to internet users and may leave a trace on the web. Also, make sure you’re not logging any important information on these websites – if you decide to go this route, it’s a good idea to use a VPN that doesn’t keep any connection logs.

Try Out Several Free VPN Services

The previous step was easy enough – you signed up for a free account with a VPN service. The next step is to try out a few of those providers and see which ones suit your needs. Why? It’s a good idea to evaluate different VPN services before you commit to using one. Some companies are better than others when it comes to customer support, logging policies, and security. Trying out several providers and seeing which one suits your needs is a good idea.

When you’re visiting a website that’s blocked in your location, you’ll see “Forbidden” or “Restricted” on a page that details the site’s content. In these cases, you could be prevented from accessing these websites without a VPN. Fortunately, many VPNs offer a free trial or a limited-access “demo” account. Sign up for one of these accounts and try out the service to see if it’s right for you. If it isn’t, you can always decide to discontinue your trial and move on to the next one.

In some cases, it’s possible to access certain websites even when you don’t have a VPN. For example, BBC News and the Guardian are generally available in the United States, regardless of whether or not you’re connected to the internet via a VPN. In these cases, you may not need a VPN in order to access these popular sites. However, it’s still advisable to use a VPN in order to access these websites if you’re somewhere else in the world.
