How to Install CyberGhost VPN on Kodi
Kodi is one of the most popular open-source media players designed for mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. Since its inception in 2016, the platform has garnered a lot of popularity with its user-friendly interface and a plethora of third-party add-ons and plugins.
One of the most popular VPN plugins for Kodi is CyberGhost, which boasts of offering more than 500 servers across the globe, dedicated IPs, a kill-switch, and a blazing fast VPN connection.

Step 1: Download And Install The Latest Release Of Kodi
In order to use CyberGhost, you’ll need to have the latest stable version of Kodi installed on your device. To download it, visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and search for “kodi”. Once the app is installed, launch it and log in with your email and password. Then, click on the “Settings” button in the top right corner of the screen.
The next screen you’ll see will ask you to choose whether you want to use the device’s general internet connection or Wi-Fi network to download content. If you have a 3G or 4G mobile connection, you can choose to use it in preference to the Wi-Fi network.
Once you’ve made that choice, click on the “OK” button to continue.
Step 2: Install The CyberGhost VPN Plugin For Kodi
Now that you have Kodi installed and launched, you can proceed to install the CyberGhost VPN plugin. Visit the Kodi menu (top left corner of the screen) again and click on the “Store” icon to launch the app store. Then, search for “cyberghost” and install the latest release of the app.
Once the app is installed, click on the “Settings” icon in the top left corner of the screen to open up the settings menu. You’ll see a list of all the available plugins on Kodi. Locate the “VPN” plugin and click on the “Install” button to install the app.
You may be prompted to enter your email address and username, which you’ll need to do to confirm your identity.
Step 3: Set Up The User Account
The next step is to create a user account for CyberGhost. For that, navigate to the plugin settings and click on the “+” icon to create a new user. Give the user a password and save the settings. You can leave the rest of the options as they are and click on the “OK” button to create the account.
The account you’ve created will allow you to connect to the VPN service from any device or platform that you use. However, you’ll need to manually connect to the service whenever you use it, which negates the true benefit of a VPN. To remedy that, you can either enable “Auto Connect” or create a shortcut to the VPN on your phone’s home screen. You’ll then need to manually connect to the service whenever you use it (which is pretty much whenever you leave your home).
If you chose to use the Auto Connect option, you’ll see a notification whenever you leave your home. If you don’t want to use Auto Connect, you can create a shortcut to the VPN on your phone’s home screen. Simply navigate to Settings, then Devices, then Shared Storage and click on the “+” icon to create a new folder. Name the folder “VPN” and click on the “Apply” button to save the folder. Now, whenever you want to use the VPN, you can just click on the folder icon and the VPN app will launch automatically.
Once your VPN connection is established, you can use the app to browse the web privately, access restricted content, and encrypt all your internet traffic. The more important thing to note is that you don’t have to have your VPN app opened all the time to use it. You can simply have it installed on your phone and connected when you want to. This is a great feature for those who want to use the service without worrying about misplacing their phone or having it stolen.
Step 4: Use The VPN To Access Restricted Content
One of the great things about the CyberGhost VPN app is that it allows you to access restricted content — like Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming content that you might not be able to access otherwise. To utilize that capability, you’ll need to be within range of a content-providing server. This is where most people run into trouble. Without being able to tell which geographic location the server is in, you won’t be able to connect to it, regardless of whether you’re in the United States, United Kingdom, or some other country. To remedy this, you can either choose a different server (based on the location of the one you want to connect to) or add a secondary server to your existing configuration (which is what most people do).
Add a secondary server by clicking on the “+” icon in the VPN settings and, from the menu that pops up, clicking on “Add a new server”. Then, enter the name of the server (e.g., “New York City”) and the IP address of the server (172.16.67.2), which you can get from the address bar on your browser once you’re connected to the server. For best results, use a VPN that is dedicated to the purpose of bypassing geographic restrictions. That way, no matter where you are in the world, you’ll be able to access the content you want, when you want it.
Step 5: Disable The Kodi App If It’s Not Necessary
As we’ve established, the best way to utilize CyberGhost is by connecting to a server. That means the app will always be running in the background, ready to connect to any server whenever you want. In some instances, this can be very resource-consuming and cause the device to perform poorly. If this is the case for you, you can either choose to disable the app (from the app menu) or navigate to Settings, then Applications and click on the “x” next to the app’s name to uninstall it.
Step 6: Use Your Smartphone’s Data To Avoid Overusing Mobile Data
With the explosion of mobile usage, more people are realizing the importance of managing their cell phone data usage. If you’re one of these people, you can choose to install the CyberGhost app and, from the Settings menu, click on the “Data” option. Here, you’ll see a list of all the applications on your phone that are using data. To save mobile data, you can either uninstall the apps you don’t need or turn off automatic downloads for apps that you do need. The latter is easier and can be done directly from the settings menu.
Step 7: Configure The Notification Setting
Notification settings allow you to get notified whenever there’s important information, like emails and text messages, or when you get a new Instagram follower. For most people, these notifications are very important for keeping up with things that are going on in their social media world. That’s why most people turn on their notification settings. However, for those who use the internet for illegal activities (downloading adult content or using anonymizing tools to browse the web privately), turning on notifications can be problematic. For that reason, you can choose to either turn off notifications or set a custom schedule when they’re active (e.g., only show them when you’re connected to Wi-Fi).
To turn off notifications, navigate to the Settings menu and, from the sidebar, click on “Instagram”. Here, you’ll see a list of your Instagram friends. At the very top, you’ll see a toggle for “Notifications”. Click on it to turn off notifications.
To configure the notifications, click on the “+” icon in the top right corner of the Settings menu and, from the list that pops up, choose “Instagram”. Here, you’ll see an interface that allows you to choose the type of notifications you want to receive. For best results, choose “none” unless you want to get notified about new Instagram followers or when you receive a new email. In that case, choose “emails only” or “messages only”, respectively.
