How to Install a VPN on Linksys WRT3200ACM Router

There are many occasions where you may want to keep your personal data and browsing history private, such as when you are on a corporate network at work or are afraid that your personal information may be compromised due to poor security on public Wi-Fi networks. Installing a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on your devices is the simplest and most convenient way to ensure that your personal data and browsing activity remain private whenever you are accessing the Internet on public Wi-Fi networks or other networks that you do not control.

In this article, we will discuss the process of installing and configuring a VPN on your Linksys WRT3200ACM router. First, you will need to download and install the VPN’s client software on one of your devices (phone, tablet, or computer). Then, you can connect to the VPN through the software and ensure that your personal data and browsing activity remain private even when you are connected to unsecured public Wi-Fi networks or networks that you do not control.

Step 1: Install and Configure the VPN Client

In most cases, you will need to download and install the VPN client software on your device first. You can find many VPN clients on the Google Play Store or App Store, but it is important to remember that not all VPN clients are created equal. Some VPN implementations are more secure than others, so you should look for reviews and try out a few different clients to find the one that suits you best. Here are the steps to install and configure the VPN client on your devices.

  • Go to the Google Play Store or App Store on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Search for Virtual Private Network.
  • Install the app.
  • Open the app and click on the Create New Account button.
  • Fill out the necessary information.
  • Once you have created your account, download and install the VPN app to one of your devices.
  • Log in to the VPN app, and click on the gear icon in the upper left corner.
  • Click on the Settings tab and enter your public and private keys.
  • Your keys should now be displayed in the form of a QR (Quick Response) code.
  • Scan the QR code on one of your devices.
  • You will see a brief message prompting you to click on the Confirm button.
  • You will then be presented with a login screen. Enter your username and password, and click on the Login button.
  • You will now be connected to your VPN.

Step 2: Configure Your Router’s Public IP

You will need to proceed to your router’s configuration page in order to assign it a public IP address. The IP address that you assign your device will determine to which network it will be able to connect. You can get this IP address by going to My Network Places in your device’s browser and clicking on the Wi-Fi icon next to your router’s name. A window will open, and you can enter the router’s IP address (usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) in the format http://192.168.0.1 (for example).

If you are having trouble locating your router’s IP address, try going to its configuration page in your device’s browser and looking under the Advanced heading. A dialog box will open, where you can enter your Router’s IP address. The IP address can be found below the Default Gateway heading.

Once you have configured your router to accept VPN connections, you can use the following steps to connect to the VPN through the client software on your device:

  • Enter your username and password, and click on the Login button.
  • You will now be connected to your VPN.

Step 3: Set Up Your Router to Accept VPN Connections

You will need to proceed to your router’s configuration page in order to assign it a static IP address.

  • Enter your username and password, and click on the Login button.
  • You will now be connected to your VPN.

Step 4: Test Your Connection to the VPN

Once you have connected to your VPN, you can test its connection to the Internet by looking under the Status tab. You will see a message indicating whether or not the connection is secure (meaning that your personal data and browsing activity are secure while connected to the VPN). You can also verify under the Status tab that you are, in fact, connected to the VPN by looking at the drop-down list next to the Status message. The drop down list will show a list of all the connected networks, with your VPN (identified by the green lock icon) highlighted.

If you encounter any issues connecting to the VPN, please refer to the VPN’s documentation or contact the company’s support team.
