How to Make a New Password for CyberGhost VPN

If you use the CyberGhost VPN and have not changed your password for a while, then you may be wondering how to make a new one. We will show you step-by-step how to do this so you can stay secure and private online.

Step 1

First, you will need to connect to the VPN server. To do this, on your device, open the VPN app and click the button to connect or reconnect to the VPN. Once connected, you will see a small connect button in the top-right corner of your screen. This is your gateway to the web content that is protected by the CyberGhost VPN. When you click this button, you will see a small window appear with a padlock icon in the middle (this is called the VPN Connection Secure Screen). Now that you are connected, you can follow the step-by-step instructions below to change your password.

Step 2

After you have logged into the CyberGhost VPN, click the menu button in the top-right corner of your screen (it looks like three squares connected by a horizontal line). This opens up the menu panel, as shown below:

Select Settings from the menu and you will see a panel open on the right side of your screen, as shown below:

Here you can change your login credentials (username and password), general settings (such as whether to auto-connect when you log in) and some optional security settings (such as changing the login lock-out duration).

Step 3

Now that you are back in the Settings panel, click the menu button in the top-right corner of your screen again (this time, it should look like three diamonds connected by a vertical line). You will then see a submenu with General and Security (shown below):

Here you can change your language (select the one you are most comfortable with), enable or disable Auto-connect and set a different lock-out duration for your password (the default is 30 minutes).

To save your new login details, click the menu button one last time and select Logout from the menu that appears. This will disconnect you from the VPN and log you out of the app. You can now close the VPN app and continue using the service as usual.

Step 4

After you have changed your password and saved it, you will need to reconnect to the VPN server before you can use it. To do this, simply reopen the VPN app and click the button to connect or reconnect to the VPN. Your changed password will now be available for use.

Step 5

You now have a new, stronger password for the CyberGhost VPN. You can use this new password to protect your personal data when you are online (such as when you are using public Wi-Fi or connecting to unsecured public networks).
