How to Use a VPN on the App Store
It’s a common question:
“How can I use a VPN on the App Store?”
The answer: quite easily. Thanks to the dedication of many smartphone researchers
and open source coders, connecting to a VPN server via a WiFi hotspot is now just a few taps of the finger.
Here’s how:
Install VPN Client
On your phone, you will want to install one of the many open source VPN clients, such as OpenVPN, IKEv2, or L2TP/IPV6. Install the app and set up your connection to a VPN server as soon as you are connected to a WiFi hotspot, as follows:
1. Open the VPN client on your phone. 2. Select the [WiFi] button on the app’s main page. 3. On the next page, you will see a connection status and the optional login page, if the server requires authentication.
As soon as you log in, you will see a connection status page that shows the status of your VPN connection as well as the server’s response time. If the status page does not show, check the connected VPN status in the settings menu.
Use VPN Once Connected
Once you’re connected to a VPN, every App installed on your phone will become a potential vpn client.
You can choose to route all of your App’s data through the VPN server, or you can install specific apps that you know will use the VPN, such as the Netflix app.
To access the App Store (or any other website for that matter) via a VPN, simply open the App Store on your phone and launch the browser (if you’re using an Android phone, go to Settings, then Privacy and securesocialfirst).

To secure your browsing when offline, simply open the App Store on your phone and launch the browser (if you’re using an Android phone, go to Settings, then Privacy and securesocialfirst).
This will make the red lock icon on the main page of the App Store a yellow lock, indicating that the website you’re viewing is protected by a VPN. You can also additionaly make the App Store more secure by choosing to route all of its web content through a VPN server (this is recommended if your phone is connected to the internet when the store is opened).
By using a VPN server, you’re keeping your personal data secure and confidential when browsing the Internet, which is usually where most of the hacker activity happens. So, even if your VPN is offline, you can still be sure that all of your personal data on the Internet is safer when connected to a VPN server.
Use a Tunnel When You Are Using Public Wifi
Sometimes you’ll be at a WiFi hotspot that doesn’t have a secure connection. This is usually because the hotspot is unaware of the security implications of the internet connection itself.
If this is the case, you’ll want to connect to a VPN server through a Tunnel. A Tunnel is a virtual network that allows you to seamlessly hide your true location while connected to a network that’s less secure. VPN Tunnels are typically set up with one of the OpenVPN clients, which are easy to configure and use. Once you’re connected to the VPN server through a Tunnel, you can choose to route all of your data, including the App Store, through a secure connection.
To set up a VPN Tunnel, simply open the App Store on your phone and launch the browser (if you’re using an Android phone, go to Settings, then Privacy and securesocialfirst).
This will take you to a page with a yellow lock icon, indicating that the browser is open to encrypted content. Now you can browse the App Store safely and confidently.
Use Your VPN Every Time You Open The App Store
If you already use a VPN for browsing the web, you can make it a part of your App Store setup. Simply open the App Store on your phone and choose [General] from the app’s main page. You can then choose [Preferences] to access the App Store’s preferences.
On the preferences page, you can select [General] from the menu on the left, and then select [+] to add a VPN client. On the next page, you’ll want to make sure that your VPN is enabled, choose [General] from the menu on the left, and then select [VPN on/off].
