How to Connect to Your VPN Server While Running Kodi

If you’re reading this, I assume you’re either running Kodi or know what it is. If not, you might want to check out these guides to learn more.

There’s a wealth of information out there on the internet about how to connect to a VPN server while using Kodi. Unfortunately, not all of it is very reliable. If you’re looking for a simple how-to guide on connecting to a VPN server on Kodi, you’ve come to the right place.

Things You’ll Need

In order to connect to your VPN server while utilizing Kodi, you’ll need:

  • A VPN account
  • A Kodi log-in
  • A VPN app for your phone or tablet
  • A strong, reliable wifi connection (such as 4G)
  • A computer/laptop (for connecting to the VPN server)
  • A USB modem (such as the Motorola MB061) to use with your computer/laptop (if you have one)

Set Up Kodi To Access Your VPN

As the name would suggest, Kodi is a program that allows users to play various content, including movies, music, and TV shows. While it’s a great tool for occasional use, if you want to watch your favorite shows when they’re released, you probably need to set up a dedicated streaming device such as the Roku Express.

But, for the purposes of quickly setting up a VPN server on Kodi, let’s assume you have a standard computer or laptop. Once you have that, all you need to do is connect to the internet via wifi and launch Kodi.

If you’re using a laptop or desktop, connect the Ethernet cable to your router (the one that connects to the internet) and the wifi cable to your computer or laptop. Once you do that, you’ll be able to connect to the internet and launch Kodi.

If you’re on a mobile device, download the VPN app from the app store and install it. On the app, you’ll need to create a new profile. For the purposes of this article, we’ll call the app X to keep things simple. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to connect to the internet and launch Kodi. As long as your device is running the app and connected to the internet, you’ll be able to connect to the VPN server and begin using it.

Step By Step

With your laptop or desktop connected to the internet via wifi, open a web browser and navigate to the VPN provider’s website. On that site, click the sign-up button and enter your email address and a username.

You’ll need to create a password for your account. When you’re done, click the ‘continue to VPN’ button to get to the login screen. On the login screen, enter your username and password and click the ‘login’ button.

Now, you’re going to need to download the VPN software to your computer. For this example, we’ll use the PPTP protocol, though you could use OpenVPN or L2TP as well. Once you download the app to your computer, it will be easy to install. Just double-click the file and follow the prompts. When the install is complete, launch the program and enter your username and password (this is the account you set up earlier).

Once you’ve logged in, you can click the’settings’ button at the top right of the screen to bring up the VPN settings. Here, you can select which protocols to use (PPTP, L2TP, or SSTP) and whether to enable/disable the “use a VPN for safer browsing” option. Additionally, you can change the VPN server’s settings (IP address, port, and protocol) and decide how long you want the connection to remain active. Once you’re done, click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes and return to the main screen.

On the main screen, click the gear icon at the top right to bring up the menu. Here, you can select the server you want to connect to (you can choose from countries such as the US, UK, CA, or AU) and then click the ‘connect’ button.

This will connect you to the VPN server and once it’s connected, you’ll see a green light on the Kodi home screen. You can now use the VPN connection to access content offered by Hulu, Netflix, or any other service that uses the VPN protocol.

Once you’ve connected to your VPN server, you’ll see a green light on the Kodi home screen. As long as you have a strong enough connection, you should be good to go. If you have any questions about connecting to your VPN server on Kodi, feel free to call us at 1-888-891-2666.
