Why Can’t I Access NordVPN?
You may have heard of NordVPN, the VPN that helped Edward Snowden stay anonymous during his leaking of National Security Agency (NSA) documents.
The company recently surpassed 1 million members and is growing by leaps and bounds. But, as a user of their services, it’s not easy to access their platform. Here’s why:
It Requires A Premium Account To Use
NordVPN will never be a free service. Whether you want to use it or not, you’re going to have to pay for it.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the more you use their services, the cheaper they are going to make you.
So, if you want to be able to use their services, you’re going to have to pay for a premium account. And, if you’re on mobile data, that can add up fast. It’s almost as if they are intentionally trying to stop people from using their service. Wouldn’t it be great if there was another VPN that you could use without worrying about costing you extra on your mobile data plan?
The Mobile App Is Poor
The mobile app is probably the worst part of NordVPN. Why? Because, even though you can access their services from just about anywhere, using the app to do so is a pain in the ass.
You’ll always have to navigate through a series of confusing menus to get to the point where you can enter your credentials. And, once you’re in, it can take a while for the app to connect you to their servers. The frustrating part is that, if you lose your connection, you have to start over from the beginning.
So, while there’s no denying that NordVPN has done an incredible job with the mobile app, it’s still considered one of the worst, if not the worst, mobile VPN apps. And, the problem is that it’s the only way most people know how to use their services.
The Website Is Ugly
If you use their services from a desktop browser, you’ll be greeted by a nightmarish website. We’re not talking about the standard design that most websites come with these days. We’re talking about something far more eye-catching.
Their website is, in fact, so hideous that we weren’t even sure if it was a real website or an image created in-house. Sure, it’s easy to get a website these days, but we doubt that they ever expected anyone to visit it.
Even worse, when you finally do reach the ugly homepage, it requires you to login with your email address or Facebook account. And, even then, it’s not always the case that you’ll be able to use their services without paying a penny.
It Has Some Limitations
Even though we praised NordVPN for how accessible and user-friendly their service is, there are still some limitations. For example, you’ll need to be on a Windows computer either with admin privileges or with an active Microsoft account in order to use their services. And, if you’re on a Mac, you’ll need to have installed Windows on your device in order to access their servers.
There are also bandwidth limits that you’ll have to observe. If you go over your allotted data usage, you’ll have to purchase extra bandwidth credits. While this isn’t a major problem, it is something to keep in mind.
To Sum Up
NordVPN is, without a doubt, one of the best VPN services available. However, if you can’t access their service from your device, it’s not that great. While it’s possible to download their app and use it from anywhere, accessing their servers from a mobile device is almost as hard as signing up for the service in the first place.
